Food preservation is a very fun topic indeed. I really enjoyed the research and planning that we did because I found more about how people make the everyday foods that we eat. It was interesting to watch how-to videos on Youtube, to help me better understand the topic and what we are going to do. But the most fun of all, was the create stage, the way we took charge and made our own products from scratch. It was so cool to make something you have never done before and just add more things as you go along. I had no experience at all in how to make jam, much more canning it. It was also kind of expensive since it is not the season for mangoes, so naturally, it was more expensive. It also doesn't help that I didn't know anything about mangoes and how much they are suppose to cost, and I also didn't know where to buy mangoes. Luckily, with the help of research, I found a place who sold the cheapest mangoes and it was so close to my house, all this time! That is something I learned. I also learned how to can a product and a little bit of science because when the jar cover gets vacuumed inside, I infer that it has something to do with the boiling water and the air comes out. Boiling the water and cooking things was difficult because I  had a small fear of hot water from a child, but that's okay, because I got over it! It was amazing to discover new places, new things, and  the value of teamwork. Even though it was hard to work in a team since I was the only girl, I was outnumbered, but that is alright because we worked everything out in the end! The design cycle was a crucial part of our project. If it wasn't for it, then we wouldn't have finished our jam. It was still important to research because even if we didn't follow our original plan of making dried mangoes, we still research on how to prepare mangoes, where to but mangoes, how to sterilize jars, where to buy jars, how to do the canning procedure. So we are really thankful that the product worked out in the end and it all ended delightfully. I could not have been more happy that we successfully pulled off something we have never tried before, and I surely would like to do this again!
