Photoshop VS. Gimp
Introduction
Greetings, I am a new user of Gimp, but big fan of Photoshop. The following will discuss the pros and cons of both programs and will find out, which program is truly better. Now, it may seem that I am prejudiced to Photoshop, seeing how I have used it more often, but I will try to give my unbiased opinion.
Compare and Contrast
Photoshop
Photoshop is the superior program, loved by many, and hated by some. This program has several more tools compared to Gimp and has a handier interface, although, the downside is that it is too expensive! The payment could be from 100$ to 1000$, which is why several (half) of users pirate it. Also, Photoshop could be quite bothersome with its annual checkups.
Gimp
Gimp is an open source, and not to mention, FREE, program. Yes, Gimp is free, so it would be less costly! Gimp also has many of the tools provided by Adobe Photoshop. Although, Gimp could use a little help in making the screen look neater and more organized, and even if Gimp is a good replacement, there are A LOT of tools that would be handy but is not provided by Gimp.
Similarities of Both
Both programs do have their similarities, for example; tools. Gimp and Photoshop have almost the same tools. The screen/interface is also quite similar, with the tools on the left and the layers on the right. It is also pretty cool that both programs can manipulate the colors and add filters.
Recommendation
My personal recommendation would be Photoshop. Even if it is expensive, you’re paying for quality! There are simply tools irreplaceable by Gimp or any other program since it is copyrighted.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Photoshop would really be the better program. It’s only flaw really is that it’s pricey, but it’s worth it! Photoshop provides you with hundreds of features and many more!
