Photo Manipulation Summative: Internationalism

INTRODUCTION
Our task, is to create four images with the theme of internationalism, using two very different programs; Photoshop and Gimp. We need to create two images using Gimp; the software is free and open source, and many would actually refer to it as a baby step to Photoshop, but it is actually much more than that. Then, we need to create two images using Photoshop; this software is the more famous and dominant one, that many prefer to use. After we create those images, we need to find the APA citations of where we took the photos from and put it on our wix, and create an introduction; the one you are reading right now.

The image to the left, is my first design on Gimp. The image typically shows people of different race and color, holding hands and uniting around the United Nations. I was about to do people holding hands around the Earth, but that was simply too unoriginal and over done, that I thought I had to change it up a little.

The image to the right, is my second design on Gimp. The picture shows a picture of the world map, but instead of the regular countries, there are different flags all connected and shaped like the countries. This picture was much difficult to do on a software like Gimp.

The image to the left, is my first design on Photoshop. The photo shows an image of people standing, and photos of different flags shaped like the people, and there is a caption saying "WE ARE INTERNATIONAL". This image is very similar to my last design on Gimp, it has the same concept of flags and the unity between different nations and nationalities. But I put the caption there instead because I feel like it really puts together the image as a whole and makes it more direct.

The image on the right is my final design and last photo on Photoshop. Personally, I love the concept of the design, because as you can see, it shows an image of a man running through a field of flags whilst he leaves footmarks that shows the United Nations flag and there are blue paint splats of Internationalism and World Peace. The concept is "Bringing us together, one step at a time" and I am very proud of this.
CONCLUSION
The activity was really fun, although, I think I still could improve on several parts, like adding more details on the designs. My final conclusion on which software is better, would have to be Photoshop. With Photoshop, you get to have more freedom and control, and I really think that my designs were better on Photoshop. Gimp is quite glitchy and I can't recreate the image I want in my head, while in Photoshop, I really got to create a design that I was happy with and even better the idea that I had before. Photoshop has certain tools and functions that Gimp cannot provide. For ex.) in Photoshop, you can warp images and you have better control over the layers and color manipulation.
