Food Preparation, Preservation and Presentation Investigation Stage
INTRODUCTION
In this very date and time, people simply neglect the importance of the three p’s when cooking. Food preparation, preservation and presentation are very important when cooking if you want to be successful, but why is it that people do not take this into account. People just simply cook and could endanger their life because they neglect preparing the food properly, preserving it correctly, and presenting it nicely. When preparing your food, you must wash your hands and be cleanly so that the bacterium does not make your food dirty; you also need to wash your utensils, pans, and plates before actually cooking. The preservation of food is also very important, because even if bacteria do get to your food, which it will inevitably, preserving your food properly can eradicate the bacteria and make your food safer. Then there’s the presentation of your product. Presentation is good if you want the people to buy your product because it will look more appetizing. I have decided that my food will be dried mangoes because it has all of the above and is a tasty delicacy of the Philippines. It can also be properly prepared by washing the mangoes, utensils and plates. Then, you can preserve it buy drying it, hence the name “dried mangoes”, and can be prepared in the best and most appetizing way possible. The preparation, preservation and presentation of food are very important for a person to be successful and safe when serving and/or eating food, and when neglected, could have great consequences.
IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
How can the use of these preservation techniques help people today? In what ways can food be best preserved? And how does technology give us leverage in food preservation? Well, as I have mentioned, preparation helps us avoid bacteria, by washing and preparing our food properly, whereas preserving it, will get rid of the rest of the bacteria that went into the food and also make it last longer. Then, we prepare our food, to make the food look more appealing to the public. To preserve food, there are several methods, such as; Drying, this method has been used since ancient times, and we still use it now, which shows how effective this method really is. Then there are other methods like; salting, canning, freezing, and many more. Many of these would actually need some kind of technology, like a refrigerator or a de-hydrator, which really shows how much technology affects us now, that we can’t even preserve our own food without using electronics.
DESIGN BRIEF
The challenge is to plan and produce a hygienic product that we properly prepare, preserve, and present. The product must have certain features like packaging and labelling, and then we must sell enough of the product to gain back the money and maybe make a profit, although the objective is not to make a profit, we must more than our initial expense. To do this, I will use the number one rule of business, and that is to buy low, and sell high appropriately. I will find the cheapest possible version of the product, but it must also have quality, so that the target market will buy it, then I will sell higher than what it took to make the product. Familiarizing the product with the public is also important because most people will not buy a foreign expensive product, unless they have at least heard good reviews about it, which is why I will present the product in the best way possible to attract the customer before approaching them, and announcing our product in assembly would also be helpful.

CONCLUSION
Our challenge is actually quite difficult because we must create a hygienic product with the use of the three P’s, including packaging, labeling, and many more. Then, we will sell our product to the public and make sure the sales covers all the expenses, and maybe even make a profit. I have already decided that the food I am going to sell is dried mangoes. I am most likely going to buy plastics and use an impulse or heat sealer to pack it because plastics are cheaper to buy and easier to find in Cebu. I also want to add some of the color red or yellow to my packaging to make it more appetizing to the public. I know several sources that have told me where to buy the things I need. Our next stage is design and plan, and that is where I am going to start mapping the places I need to go and find out more about it. I also need to make a logo for my labeling. I will also plan everything, from what I'm going to buy, to making to the dried mangoes. Then, I will start making business techniques on how to get more customers and make my product more appealing to the public. I will carry out a thorough plan throughout this project to make sure that I do not get lost and confused. I will also decide on what to do with my money or the profit afterwards.
